October 27, 2011 - Science Co-Op

This is our last day of co-op. Many of the other students will be going one more week to do all the dissections. I let Lego-Man decide if he wanted to do those or not, but he decided against it. Considering we did 90% of the other experiments, I'm calling it good.

The high school students completed experiments for Modules #7 & #8.

The CGC kids completed pages on birds.

Sadly, I'm entering this so late I have no other details of the day.

The afternoon was spent doing an activity via Tanglewood 4H camp. Our 4H group coordinated them coming and to help allay the cost of the instructors, we opened it up to other homeschoolers. The younger group (ended up being about K-3) did an activity on fall. The older group (4th grade and up) did a team building exercise. I flitted between all the groups. There were four - two younger and two older - and my boys were all split up in to three of them. Some photos of the afternoon....

One of the older groups. They had to go through these squares like a maze. They had to figure out the path and help each other through. Similar to an electronic Simon Says game.

This poor bunny was confused and needed to call....

...the help line to figure out what it should do in the fall.

The younger group was completely enthralled with the whole thing.

The other older group working through their "maze." That's Lego-Man hopping through.

Almost done!

The youngers headed into the wooded area to check out what they could find for fall items.

Then using packing tape around their wrists - sticky side out - they made fall bracelets. These were a hit!

We plan to do more classes. Tanglewood is a great program.

October 25, 2011 - Art Class

Today was our second monthly art class. The children worked at glazing all the pieces they had made before. Karen also had a fun recycling project for them. She took them outside one-by-one to use a lot of fun packing materials to create costumes and whatever their imaginations could come up with.

Lego-Man glazing his plate.

Happy's projects

Conductor glazing his plate.

Happy showing off his new bubble wrap coat and arm guards.
Lego-Man ended up with a sword and Conductor a shield.

And yes, Happy even wore his outfit to piano lessons.

Day #43/175 Days

Friday, October 21, 2011

October 21, 2011

Today was another "Life Skills" day. I gave the boys a choice...either do schoolwork or help with chores around the house. We worked outside making hay bags for the sheep out of old grain bags, cleaning out stalls, feeding them, and just doing some more general maintenance.

We also worked inside. Aside from the outside work I also had a lot of baking to do so the boys helped with that as well as did some inside chores (dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning bedrooms, etc.).

In the afternoon we headed to church. Our 4-H Achievement night was tonight and we were able to secure our church's gym to use this year. Our club did all the set-up and clean-up. It was a fun night and we learned about more opportunities for the kids to participate in via 4-H.

Our club was also suppose to take care of the entertainment. However, due to illness a few had to back up so it ended up just being Conductor. I brought in our electric piano and he played one piece he had done for lessons last year. He was adorable.
